I help manage spine patients and I can tell you that those image findings are very common. Many people have those MRI findings and have no symptoms. Disc protrusion can actually lessen over time. With radicular pain (nerve pain shooting down the leg in a specific nerve distribution), greater than 90% improve before 3 months and do not need surgery. For now, the key is regular anti-inflammatories and therapy. Hope this helps.
