But...it's Texas, I am sure they have some talent ready to step up. In reviewing games from last year, the tackles were not always as bad as it seemed on the surface, some of that was Taysom not stepping up into the pocket and instead flushing out and relying on his athleticism. Very few tackles are going to stop a speed rush in it's tracks, instead they push it deep and around the pocket forcing the speed rusher's momentum to carry him around the pocket and have to reverse. If he makes the sack at that point, it's all on the QB not getting rid of the ball.
Yeck got beat outside quite a bit, but often when he did he was directing the rusher outside and deep. Taysom just didn't step up. If Taysom uses the pocket a bit more...I think our tackles end up looking quite a bit better by default.
