For the past year, the P5 commissioners have urged the NCAA to settle many of the lawsuits so that it could concentrate on issues pertaining to student-athletes instead of spending much time and energy on defending legal challenges. The P5 have maintained that many of the lawsuits were avoidable if the NCAA had effective leadership. Scott and Delany have estimated that it would take 5-7 years for all the lawsuits to reach a conclusion.
