his job just to beat BYU anyway. All it could do is hurt his job if he finally lost to us AND stunk it up again in the PAC.
I really think Kyle does an excellent job getting his players up to play us and prepared to play us. People that say we are typically out coached by Utah are NOT exaggerating. They come up with defensive schemes that are NOT the same as they play every other week. This goes back to when Kyle was a DC and they have refined it every year since tailored to our personnel and our tendencies. Having Anae be a stubborn, "you know it's coming but I dare you to stop it" type of play caller does not help our cause either. The only team besides Utah that I have seen fully implement it was Wisconsin last year (Gary A). USU tries to because of Gary's influence but hasn't had the horses to make it work.
My theory is that Kyle knows he has to win that game and he knows how to do it (there's his own formula for him to follow) but he also knows how much effort it takes. I am sure he thinks that it hurts his ability to prepare the team for other winnable games, especially immediately following and preceding the rivalry.
Having it be the last game of the season again would be smart on Kyle's part if he makes it to the next time we play.
