TLUE is held there every year, which is becoming a bigger deal all the time. Brandon Sanderson teaches the sci-fi/fantasy class which I can only imagine is all but impossible to get into nowadays, and before him another well-regarded writer taught the class. But also, BYU has a deep well of alumni to draw upon to feed back into the community: OSC, Sanderson, Meyers, Dashner, Wells, etc. Utah has a very strong writing community and agents from all over the country have begun to take notice of the well-spring of authors coming out of Utah.
