I prefer the Big 12.
I would certainly be happy being in the Pac 12, but if it were up to me I would take the Big 12. Here are my reasons:

- BYU has a better shot at being competitive in day 1 than they do in the Pac 12. Say what you want about TCU and their transition, but they've had some freaky things happen to them, and I think they'll be solid this year. Also, long term I think it gives BYU a better chance at reaching the Playoffs than the Pac 12.
- the Big 12 feels more like the old WAC that I'm familiar with. I liked traveling to Laramie, Albuquerque, and Ft Collins. There is no other reason for me personally to see those towns. Same with Stillwater, Morgantown, Norman, Lubbock, etc. If I want to go to Disneyland, I'll go to Disneyland separately.
- We already have a decent recruiting presence in the Pac 12. Some see that as a reason to go to the Pac 12, I see it as a reason to expand that footprint into the Big 12 country. The church is strong in California and AZ, a lot of those kids will know about BYU whatever conference we're in. Why not spread out into Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas? It only widens our recruiting footprint.
- I personally like the teams in the Big 12 more than the teams in the Pac 12. Just personal preference.
- There are other religious schools there already. We aren't a black sheep in that regard.
- The rivalry with Utah would be more interesting if we were in different power conferences. Let's face it, it will be a long time (probably never) that BYU and Utah are dominating the Pac 12 like we did the MWC. The Holy War will just be another Apple Cup. If we're in separate conferences, it takes it up a notch. Not only is it church vs state, good vs evil, blue vs red, but its now Big 12 vs Pac 12, best power conference team in the state. I think it would be like South Carolina vs Clemson, or FSU vs Florida. Game Day isn't coming to watch two middle of the pack Pac 12 teams on rivalry week, but two decent teams playing an historic OOC game in rivalry week?
- Since I follow Utah to a degree (if there isn't a better game, I'll watch the Utah game usually hoping for a loss), I'll be able to keep track of both conferences, instead of just the Pac. That means more games on Saturday mean more to me.
- We could have Oklahoma in Provo and USC in SLC on the same day.
- Assuming the rivalry game with Utah is played at the end of the year (maybe the Larry Scott will allow it if it's a P5 vs P5 game), we have a heated rivalry with TCU. Not to mention what this Texas game is turning into (everyone thinks Texas is their rival, but still..). We recently knocked OU out. We could have that with UCLA to some extent, I guess.
- Lastly, I don't like the idea of following Utah anywhere.. ANYWHERE! If I had a choice, I take the other route. The Pac 12 is currently the #2 P5 conference, IMHO, but just a few years ago it wasn't. It won't be long until it's back down to the middle of the pack.

Again, I would love to be a part of the Pac 12. I don't see a downside to it. I just like the idea of the Big 12 better..
