The problem is football is a regional game. BYU is in serious danger of becoming irrelevant if they don't compete at the highest level. The same way Texas overshadows teams they used to share a conference with like SMU and Rice. Now imagine if SMU was 40 miles from the U of Texas. If Utah ever became a constant top 25 team in the Pac-12, we would be overshadowed big time.
