I was given an iphone 4S with a shattered screen. I ordered a replacement screen, which came today, and I'll replace it tonight. The big question is what do you do with an unneeded older iphone model? Are they saleable, and if so, how much can you get for one? The other option is to give it to one of my younger kids to use as an ipod touch and try to get some kind of texting/calling enabled over wifi with google voice.
