recreation league soccer team. My son's team had older and better players than the opponent and it wasn't a close game. I was the assistant coach on the team. We were playing 9 on 9 since our team only had 9 players. The other team had three subs available.

At half time, our coach asked me to go to the other sideline and tell the other coach that we didn't mind if they played two more players. While I was in the middle of that I said, "This is a rec league anyway. It's more about having fun." The other guy thought I said, "wreck" and was attacking the quality of the league and his team. He said, "Excuse me? What did you say?" I figured out the misunderstanding quickly and said, "This is a recreation league. A rec league. We aren't out for blood." Fortunately he caught on and calmed down.
