Hidden BYU advantage in the Coaches Poll?
There are 62 voting coaches in the Amway/USA Today coaches poll--exaclty half of the D1 schools. So you would expect each school to play about half of their D1 games against schools with voting coaches. Which, may or may not be an advantage... There is no hard evidence, but anecdotally (and based on incentives) coaches tend to vote slightly higher than others for schools in their conference (which they play) or on their schedule (upping their SOS), and/or others that they have some familiarity with or exposure to.

BYU plays 5 schools with voting coaches (UConn, Texas, UNLV, MiddTenn, UCF) for 5/11 D1 games... about what you would expect. But a closer look shows...

-Bronco is a voter
-3 BYU alums are voters (Mike Leach, Norm Chow, Steve Sarkisian)... for better or for worse
-1 other LDS coach (Ken Niumatalolo)
-Fellow Independent ND
-2 close Bronco friends (Chris Peterson, Rocky Long)
-6 Mtn West schools (though not necessarily any advantage, but will have familiarity)... which includes UNLV, Hawaii, SDSU already mentioned above

Who knows if it will make any difference, but at least BYU will be well represented by a number of coaches familiar with them.
