I believe you two are arguing 2 different points. USU averaged more viewers but garnered less rating, BYU had the better average rating but less average viewers, Utah was worse in both.

Seeing how USU is a smaller school with a smaller fan base and market and has only had recent success and their televised games were against Utah, USC, San Jose, UNLV, Freson, and Northern Illinois, putting up those kinds of viewership averages is impressive.
