#BYU50 box report Missouri
BYUMizzou already gave a great report, so I won’t retell everything, but maybe just share my perspective. (Sorry it got a little long)

There are a few other places they could have placed the box, but the most obvious was the columns. My girls and I drove around to a few different places just to see who was out there. I really wanted to split up, but my wife was working until 6:30 p.m. and I thought about leaving my girls at another place but they’re a little too young. In the end I felt like it was best to go to the columns and then just be prepared to run to another place if necessary.

We saw BYUMizzou’s girls there and the other guy (he came from KC area) we were all kind of hanging around the area on the lookout. Around 7 p.m. I started to second guess myself thinking it was just too obvious of a place. I kept refreshing my twitter feed expecting a tweet that it was someplace else. Because they ended up being a bit after 7 my wife was able to join in. I sent her and her sister to the other set of columns down by the courthouse. (The two sets of columns face each other on the same street about 12-15 blocks away) I later found out that BYUMizzou’s wife was also there.

The lady who followed them in from the parking lot is a good friend of ours mother who is visiting. I recognized her, but couldn’t figure out how until she said my friend’s last name. She was the first one to technically “Touch” the box, although they still had it in the FedEx box. They thought they could hide it that way, but it was quite obvious because it was huge! I sent my girls racing to them at the same time BYUmizzou’s girls and the KC guy went running to them. I’m not sure who got there first, although I’m pretty sure my girls were last, because they had the farthest distance to run. When they all started to run our friend’s mother started tapping the box and I realized that she wasn’t part of the marketing representative group, but another family!

All in all I think everyone was good sports. The marketing rep called and asked what they should do and they told her we could all decide who won or they could take the box and go someplace else and re-hide it. In the end the KC guy suggested we spilt it and everyone was okay with that. We picked numbers between 1-100 for the football which everyone wanted. I think BYUMizzou’s daughter pick something liked 36, our Family friend’s mother picked 72, I was going to go low 30’s but felt guilty being so close to BYUMizzou’s daughter so I just went with a middle number, 55. KC guy picked 35 or something just under BYUMizzou’s daughter and the number was 63. I was 8 away and our friend’s mother was 9 away. I was excited to win, but felt bad because I knew everyone else wanted the football so bad. We split up the poster’s, stickers and other trinkets and the girl took our name and address down and promised that her brother would mail other things to us.

Kind of a funny aside, my wife saw a guy standing by the courthouse columns with his arms folded. He was looking kind of suspicious, like he was waiting for someone. Then he went to a van or truck and got out this big box that looked blue and stuck it in a different van and started to drive away so they started to follow that guy. Luckily I sent a text to her just after they pulled out to follow the van that the box was where we were at.

Overall it was a fun and exciting evening. My girls kept refreshing my phone at home waiting with excitement for the tweet of the time they were going to drop the box. I think there ended up being another 4 or 5 individuals or families including the person Triznaynay posted about, that came after the tweet was sent. I recognized a handful of them from the stake in Columbia.

I’m sure this has already been posted but the football has 9 signatures, Giff, Marc, Jimmy Mac, Steve Young, Robbie, Ty, Sark, John and Max. Does anyone know if they are actual signatures and not screen printed on? I thought I read in one of the posts that they were mailing the footballs to the QB’s to have sign. My wife’s convinced that it’s a screen print… which is probably a good thing. First thing she said when I showed it to her was can I sell that on eBay? SMH!!

By the way BYUMizzou you have a great family! Good luck to your daughter heading out to BYU in a couple of weeks, keeping the Y tradition going!
