I was looking forward to a reunion of a Bronco led D and Anae led O that didn't
have a true Freshman QB or in its first year. The last time that took place was 2006 & 2007, 11-2 both years, both MWC championships, both bowl wins over PAC 10 schools, both wins over Utah, both top 20 rankings at season end. Since then, we haven't been able to fire on both major cylinders (offense & defense). We had the following:

2008 - Anae O, but Jaime Hill took over as DC (Ole TCU, Utah) Off Team Rank: 16th Def Team Rank: 55th
2009 - Anae O, Hill D (Hello Seminoles!, TCU again) Off Team Rank: 20th Def Team Rank: 33rd, we were actually able to pull together a decent balance and finish 11-2 & ranked 12th overall
2010 - Riley/Heaps fiasco, Hill fired after Utah State loss, Bronco takes over defense & it finishes stronger (ranked 24th at year end)
2011 - Doman O, Bronco D Off Team Rank: 39 Def Team Rank: 15th
2012 - Doman O, Bronco D Off Team Rank: 58 Def Team Rank: #1 baby

Last year we had the dynamic duo back together but it was Anae's mulligan year. This year, I was looking forward to getting back to full force on both sides of the ball, but now Bronco has handed over the DC duties again. Can Nick Howell keep the defense in the top 25 range? If Anae returns to his top 25 finishes (like his offenses have every year at BYU except Riley/Heaps fiasco year), we could see a return to the balanced teams of 2006-2007. If we finish top 25 in both offense and defense again, we will have a year to remember, and return to glory days.
