I was fighting it at first but my son didn't want a regular (curved) hat. He would rather not wear any hat then a curved one. When my wife pointed out that it's his hat and not mine and if he likes that look it's his choice, I backed off. I would rather he have a flat bill BYU hat then no BYU hat.
I am sure he (and most of society) will look back and say "man, that was dumb when I wore that" but for now, meh.
