Well, my wife and I were really happy with Sprint, but when they rolled out
the new plans about 3 years back, we got hosed.

Backstory--my wife and I are both late adopters and waited as long as we could before getting smartphones. We had regular old cellphones, even without texting (we texted 10x a month, so it was cheaper just to pay the .20/msg)

Story so far--About 3 years ago, we noticed our bill was getting pretty big for just cell service, but if we allowed Sprint to "grandfather" us into that year's plan structure, it would save us about $10 a month and would give us a texting plan. Done. My wife upgraded her phone, I did not.

Our current situation--About 2 years ago, I was given an iphone. Since the plan structure at the time for sprint would have required for us to DOUBLE our bill for me to switch to the iphone on sprint, I dropped off Sprint entirely and spent ~$45/month for "unlimited" call/data/text through basictalk. There were a few hiccups, but for the most part I've been OK with the service (ATT based), though my wife's phone almost always gets better reception than mine. My wife's "single" plan + my basictalk + wife's freedompop (data and smartphone) came out to about as much as our "talk+text" sprint plan.

At least around our area (Houston), the saying goes that Verizon is the most reliable, then Sprint, then ATT. T-Mobile has a fan following that puts them anywhere from first to last, depending on the person. Granted, last I had a cell service discussion was about 3 years ago.

My suggestion would be that Sprint might be a good "cheap" option if you have many lines, but for just 2 people, it would probably be cheaper to do basictalk. If you aren't just looking for the "cheapest" option, then you probably need to talk to people in the areas that you'll be using the phones.

ALSO. . .AND THIS IS BIG. . .notice the small print that starting next year, you'll pay an additional $15/line (I'm guessing including the primary line), so that for 4 lines you'll probably pay ~$130/month this year ($100+taxes, recovery fees, etc. etc. etc.). However, next year you'll pay ~$200/month ($160 + taxes, recovery, etc. etc. etc).
