President Samuelson's whole heart and allegiance were with BYU.
I work with a very influential Ute booster. He personally consulted with Chris Hill hourly during the Kyle Whittingham hiring process. He bleeds red. He has chaired virtually every board at the U, including the board of regents. He worked closely with President Samuelson when he was at the U.

A while after President Samuelson was assigned to be the President of BYU, I heard my colleague mention that he really hoped BYU would do well going forward. I was honestly surprised to hear him say this. He's not a BYU hater, but there is no question that he supports the U--so I asked him "why?"

He said, "because I have never known anyone more worthy of respect than Cecil Samuelson and I know how hard he is working to make and keep BYU successful--academically and athletically. How can I not want BYU to do well with a guy like him at the helm?"

Since then, I have never doubted that President Samuelson was loyal to BYU.
