And Hill admitted the following week he was making the wrong read on a lot of those and should have been calling his own number a few times.
Do you know that BYU rushed for 500 more yards last year than any season in BYU history? Do you know that we had two 1,000 yard rushers?
Do you have any idea how the read option works? Any? They aren't dives. They are never dives. They are options. A dive is a straight run through the 1 or 2 hole. There is no option. That's it. We were running the read option where Hill key's on what the DE and OLB are doing and either hands off or keeps the ball. It's not a dive. It's an option. The ball can go either inside or outside based on the read.
Now if you want to say Hill shouldn't have made that read as much, you might have a point...but considering Williams got almost 1250 yards on the season...and averaged 5.7 yards a carry, I'd say Hill figured out how to make the read.
But I challenge you to find me 15 dives...because the only time we remotely ran anything like that was on the goal line. The rest of the time we were running read option and averaging nearly 6 yards a carry.
