Apparently several years back one winter (I think it was after the Fiesta Bowl win?) he arranged to have Whitt visit their troop one night during scouts when they were doing the athletic merit badge to talk with them about his job as a coach to fulfill one of the merit badge requirements. My little bro was a teacher then and despite being a BYU fan was excited to at least meet Kyle.

Turned out Whitt had to cancel last minute. The guy from the ward (who was YM pres then before he was the bishop) told them it was due to a chronic issue he had been dealing with since his playing days...nothing "serious", but enough that he couldn't stand for long. I don't think he ever made it back to talk to them. But that would've made sense. I had a friend growing up who had a vestigial tail removed...said it still acted up from time to time.
