Here is more from the article:

"The season opener will be far from a cakewalk. The Huskies will have to be on their A-game against an established program like the Cougars. The tough contest will give new head coach Bob Diaco a chance to gauge just how far his team has come since he took over the reigns.

“Right out of the block, we’re gonna know where we’re at as a team,” he said. “We’re gonna know how far we need to go, what work needs to be put in and just what exactly needs to be done. That test will be formidable and it will be an instant barometer. We won’t be wondering who we are.”

Since the players go on missions while at BYU and then come back to play football, the Huskies will be going up against experienced and older players all over the field."

The author goes on to call this game a "golden opportunity" for UConn.

Doesn't sound like an expected win to me. Sounds like they are trying to be optimistic. But calling it an opportunity while saying you'll have to be on your A-game, calling it a tough contest, formidable, etc. doesn't sound like the expect a win to me.
