You probably should be listening to some folks and getting a little more advice before making a purchase.

A lot of people I know prefer Gerber because they are less likely to pinch their hands using the pliers. The rest of the tools seem like they are a wash with minimal advantage to one over the other.

As a plus, Gerber is a knife maker - so I would assume that the Gerber knives on the tool are likely better than the knife on the leatherman.
