first in suburban DC and then in rural upstate NY.
Suburban DC was like Utah East and there were a lot of BYU alumni.
Rural upstate NY was like a third world country, where an overwhelming percentage of members were less active and not college educated. But even among the active members, there were few BYU fans. For example, a couple of years ago I went to a stake priesthood leadership meeting that was the same time as the BYU-Notre Dame game. When the visiting GA complemented us for being there during the game, most of the men in the room seemed oblivious about it.
I would guess most of Connecticut (and southern New England) is a hybrid between these two extremes.
