Fans don't need to "be real", and I don't want to be, otherwise I'd be one of
the guys who watched the game on DVR after the fact. One of the guys who will let his wife schedule over top of BYU games. I want to watch every second because I expect magic to happen. I want to see Detmer beat Miami every week. I want to see Collie 4:18 every game. I want to see Beck to Harline. I want to see George running and giving my daughter, who is single and at BYU and loves BYU football probably more than I do, a high five as we scream with joy. I want to see Hill run all over Texas. And I guess I just don't want those things, I expect those things. That's why I'm a rabid fan, and that's why I keep coming back every game. I attended all the Crowton era home games. It was like a dagger through the heart to see sunshine beat is silly. It was painful to hear that our coach wanted to win by 9 instead of 3. But I kept coming back so I could see a yewt fan in a Santa costume put his hands on his head in disbelief when Harline caught that pass, while some guy was screaming like a little girl in the press box. I won't "be real" ever, and that's the way I like it.
