I don't like the part of town campus is in...
right smack in the middle of one of the most ghetto parts of L.A. You definitely can't stroll around the campus area at night with the same degree of safety you can in Provo - that's for sure. Most of my HS friends who went to SC literally used it as a commuter school and lived at home.

My BYU degree got me into a profession I loved, and was a solid degree and education, but I often wonder about how many MORE doors and opportunities a degree from USC would have opened. I often tell people when educating them about USC that you can graduate from there with a degree in Underwater Basket Weaving and you will have a dozen job offers waiting for you upon graduation.

The truth is - and this is NOT me being bitter, it just is a statement of fact - at the time I graduated from BYU, early 80's, the Comms department did little to NOTHING for it's grads in terms of job placement or helping us network and get connected to begin our careers (it is MUCH different now, thankfully). I know from my many friends who went to SC it is a totally different story there.

Anyway, FIGHT ON. Will be at RES on October 25th in my Trojan hoodie to watch Kessler and Co. put the beatdown on the Utes!!!
