How much is BYU really in Texas' head?
Rarely if ever has BYU been a "revenge" game for a national powerhouse. And while I can understand why Texas coaches are using BYU as a focal point, BYU isn't exactly a top dog in college football these days. Not surprisingly, I never heard anyone comment about BYU or Hill not even the few times non P-5 teams were discussed. No mention was made of BYU whatsoever.

How this translates from my perspective is that Texas will definitely come out juiced for the game. I think defensively they will be tough and will play very aggressively. I expect to see them stack the box and be very physical. However, psychologically I think Texas will come out EXPECTING to dominate BYU. Texas will believe that the BYU game last year was a fluke and, more importantly, Texas is a different team now.

The game will likely come down to how effective Taysom can be when he's truly under fire and BYU will need to go over-the-top on Texas' defense. They will be over-playing to stop his running game and will make him throw the ball. The O-line, Taysom getting the ball out quickly and a good offensive game plan are the keys to this game. If the offense can find a rhythm, I think that would be demoralizing a bit to a Texas team out for revenge.

This is a very winnable game for BYU. However, if Hill gets rattled early and his passing is off and the defense doesn't come to play, the game could get out of hand early. However, the longer BYU stays in the game, the more I expect BYU to settle down and start to execute. I could almost see a game opposite of the one in 2011 where Texas wins the first half but BYU comes back and wins the game and second half.
