BYU-UCONN 1st half play-by-play breakdown
I did a play-by-play bereakdown of the 1st half because I was curious about all the comments around Hill not going deep and comments about BYU DB's playing well or being out of position.

Unfortunately, none of the camera angles allowed for this type of analysis. The full play development ws never shown, however I did notice a few things.

I used ESPN's play-by-play notes and added more notes. I doubt I'll do the 2nd half, though that would probably be more interesting. If anyone else wants to do it, I'll share the google doc edit with you.

1. I never saw Hill drop back and throw in rythm except for the 2 passes to Mathews over the midget db's shoulder. This could be caused by lots of downfield coverage, bad route running, or Hill not being comfortable with timing/placement in tight coverages. Unfortunately, I couldn't see if recievers were open onbreaks and Hill just didn't throw, or otherwise.
2. When Hill did throw, his release was fairly quick, clean and he was on target with good velocity. Throwing motion may not be perfect (I don't know these things), but there doesn't seem to be anything fatal or that would even prevent him from performing at a very high level.
3. The D-line wasn't as stout as I'd like. There were some good holes, and the quick back (Marriner) was able to do some damage. A better line a better backs could cause some problems.
4. UCONN had no "developing" plays. Passes were all on the first read, and often with pressure.
5. Extra points were fine (1st bad snap probably an anomoly). Kickoffs need work, but the las kickoff of the half went pretty deep and kick covergae was better.
6. Recievers did get open but nobody got lost over the top. There was always a play to be made after the catch (or what should'a been catches).
7. I bet the DB's for UCONN were a bit yappy, especially to start the game. BYU recievers seemed PO'd (Houk and Mathews esp.).

Notes on spreadsheet:

I am a lousy arm-chair coach, my nomenclature is likely off, but I thik it's fairly easy to see what I mean from my notes.

Play: What I thought the called play was PP=Pass Play, RP = Run Play
OSet: the simple formation 1L 1R 1B = 1 receiver right, 1 receiver left, 1 back
Reads: How far I thought QB got throuugh progression before passing or running.
Actual: What actully happened on play PP=Pass Play, RP = Run Play (including scrambles)
DSet: What I saw defensively. Not trying to call the conventional D-set names, 5-2-4 = 5 on the line, 2 behind them and 4 db's
Rush: How many I counted rushing on the play
