it was contracted to receive.
The start of the game was delayed by two hours, because of lightning and severe storms. The teams ran one play before the officials stopped the game again, because of lightning. After 45 minutes, they terminated the game.
The contract has a clause absolving Florida from paying in the case of an "act of God"
In the meantime, Idaho had incurred expenses getting to Gainesville and back.
It's hopeful Florida pays the expenses. It would be a nice gesture. Even if they do, Idaho will have a serious hole in this year's athletic budget ($14M for fiscasl 2012-13).
There four options open to both teams, before $$$ will be looked into:
- Resume the game at a later date.
-- Terminate the game with a determined final score.
-- Forfeit the game.
-- Declare a no contest.
The athletic directors from both schools, in consultation with the coaches, must agree on one of the four options.
