This could just be selective memory...
...but it seems to me that backup QB's tend to spell bad news for BYU.
I've seen WAY too many games in which the promise of a backup QB playing seemed like it should result in a somewhat easier game for BYU, only to have the backup over-perform and the game end poorly for the cougars.
