As others have mentioned, disbarment is only of the many consequences.
basically the professional death penalty and potential prison time. Unauthorized practice of law is one thing. Encouraging and enabling a non lawyer to do so? Much worse for the lawyers than the non lawyer.

Not sure how far down or up the totem pole it would go, but at least anyone who knew or should have known he was not licensed or shouldn't have been licensed would at least get suspended if not disbarred. The firm would likely be torpedoed if the hit were big enough, especially with the lawsuits brought by clients who lost or had an adverse outcome during their representation.

Would make for an interesting hypothetical on an ethics exam....
