They've beaten us 2-3 in recent history, and we needed an epic 2nd half comeback to win the 1 we got. They recruit solid athletes, they've beaten one top 25 team already and given nearly everybody's 2014 darling, UCLA, all they wanted. The Bruins scored 1 offensive TD vs. Virginia. In addition to that, the Hoos took our GHGF offense and stuffed it right back down our throat last season.
Add in our relative struggles in the passing game vs. Houston, and I think there are plenty of reasons to take UVA very seriously. To blow them out, I believe we'll have to do something we haven't yet since Anae's return: pass the ball consistently vs. quality DBs while playing smart in all phases of the game.
Does that amount to being scared? I don't think so. It's more a reflection of the approach our team will likely need to come out and play well vs. these guys. Virginia has beaten us before and can do so again if we do the same dumb stuff we saw vs. Houston. OTOH, we have every reason to be optimistic if the Cougs (players and coaches) come out and measure up to their ability. Still looking for a complete game from BYU in 2014--this would be a great time to deliver. Should be a fun one to watch.
