Depends on what you're talking about. Access to NY6? Less than G5.
But, access to playoffs? Much better as indie. Now, of course, playoffs are a stretch, and would likely only happen if undefeated in a season where we had one of our stronger schedules (this year probably too weak). In a G5 conference, there's almost no way our schedule would ever be strong enough to be considered for a playoff spot (since we'd only be able to schedule, at most, a couple P5 teams). So, access to NY6 is a bit diminished as an independent (we'd need to be top 7 or so to grab a NY6 at-large spot as opposed to being the top ranked G5 conference champ), but we still have the possibility, slim as it is in most years, of going all the way. There is simply no way to go all the way from a G5 conference due to strength of schedule issues.
