Assume BYU is in a Go5 conference and wins it by going undefeated. Where does that get us?

Actually it gives us absolutely no guarantees. I'm sure most are positive it does - but it doesn't.

Not only would we have to win our conference but we have to be ranked higher than all the other Go5 conference champs that may or may not have gone undefeated as well.

Look at this year - Cincy, Marshall & NIU could all still go undefeated and win their Go5 conference. Who gets in?

One of them sure - but a lot will come down to things like - SOS, beauty contest items like RUTS, East Coast Bias, etc...are we sure BYU would get in? No - we are not!

Just like some of us hope for the opportunity for an undefeated independent BYU to be in the top 7 in a year where the Rose/Sugar host semi-finals so we can get in to a NY6 or CFP game just going undefeated is not a guarantee we'd get there though.

Same thing for Go5 conference champs...do AF, WY, CSU, Hawaii, NM, UNLV drive enough SOS to overcome several teams that just last year were considered BCS caliber? Would joining AAC guarantee better SOS than MWC? If so in which years...I know it would go back and forth but where is the guarantee - there won't be a guarantee - just like there is no guarantee with independence.....
