in 2006, during BYU/Utah game, i worked at a jewelry store close to campus
NO ONE came in and we could watch the game in the back. however, a random couple walked in at some point in the 3rd and it was my turn to help. i went out and tried to break the ice by saying something like "so...your guys' cable go out or something?" they stared with a nerdy glare, "what do you mean?"

"oh, nothing, just wondering if you guys were watching the game, is all."

"what game?"

"oh, do you guys not go to BYU?"

"yeah, we do."

"oh, the football team is playing utah right now...pretty big game."

"we don't follow sports, especially football."

[thinking inside my head] "well...this is going to go over well..." super awkward experience, thankfully it didn't last long and i saw the 4th quarter.
