BYU was a borderline powerhouse in the 80's and 90's

home schedules included Penn State, Notre Dame, #1 Miami etc... The program during that error was coming off of several All American Qb's, heisman trophy, Outland trophy, Davey O'Brien's etc... Regular conference champs, big bowl game opponents. The last few years did some short term damage to the program. Whether you and I think that's justifiable or not it's evidently the case.
