I looked at the AP votes of several AP voters who have BYU out of the top 25. At this point in the season it's hard to argue that they're dissing BYU because there just haven't been enough games played yet (although it bugs when every voter I looked at had UCLA in their top 10 - The argument for leaving BYU out I guess is that they haven't played anyone yet. So what's the reason for putting UCLA in the top 10? Hype and preseason ranking? Lame).

I think when it comes down to it BYU and Cougar fans have a problem with themselves. BYU is the team that experimented with Abs and Heaps as dual QBs in 2010. BYU is the team that gave Doman a shot at being OC. BYU is the team who had a pretty good streak going from 2006-2009 and decided to throw it all away from 2010-2013. Last year we started climbing out of the hole a bit, but it's going to take more than a mediocre season (and bad bowl loss) last year and 3 straight wins to start the year this year to get voters to jump back on the Cougar bandwagon.

They will eventually jump back on as we keep winning, but can anyone really blame them for being skeptical? We went through a dark period in BYU football for the last few years. The light ahead is brilliant and welcome but we're still brushing all the darkness off. We'll get there.
