What if instead of suspending due to media/public frenzy, the NFL suspended
players due to actual harmful or negative impact of player behavior (if it could actually be measured)? AP would never have got to this point because he would have been suspended long ago for fathering children out of wedlock. If you had to sign up for one as a victim, which would you choose?
1. beaten with a switch
2. being knocked out in an elevator
3. fathered out of wedlock or left to raise a child alone
4. divorced
5. cheated on
6. hit/injured/killed by a drunk driver
7. being raised with drugs in the home

Seems like we are more appalled by the plight of the immediate victim than that of the prolonged victim.
