especially on non-designed runs.
The spectacular part of Taysom's improvised runs isn't because our receivers are blocking downfield. It's because Taysom is breaking tackles and hurdling guys and juking guys out in the secondary because they aren't being blocked by our receivers.
Our WR's as a whole need to work on separation on routes (one of the causes why Taysom runs on many passing plays. He's playing smart and not trying to force it in there but there is a degree of hesitation to pull the trigger.) as well as blocking downfield.
The "holding" call that nixed Taysom's TD run a couple of weeks ago that was downfield (where the receiver was pulled down on top of the defender) gives me hope that some of our guys will engage downfield. It still needs improvement IMHO.
