for Jim McMahon and that he came out with a supportive tweet for Max Hall when the news of his arrest broke. It's easy to stand behind people like Jimmer Fredette and applaud. In some ways it's more meaningful when you stand behind people who might be struggling (like Hall) or might be vilified by a significant percentage of your fan base (like McMahon).
I was at a BYU Alumni Conference a couple of years ago when Tom Holmoe spoke. During the Q & A, one person in attendance made a comment that was critical of McMahon as a preface to his question. Tom Holmoe began his answer with a strident defense of McMahon. He said what a great teammate he was and he mentioned that McMahon has done an awful lot of good for a lot of people behind the scenes over the years.
