Rewatched the 2nd half of the BYU/Houston game (Sky Cam)

in regards to "This is how you beat BYU"

It's not as simple as just putting 8 in the box to beat BYU and to slow down Taysom. The times Houston had 8 in the box was them matching up to BYU and their formations. Seen a lot of trips bunch with the TE in the slot. Seen a bunch of split back looks and a bunch of 2 back pistol looks. Most of those formations they always had a TE playing inline. It was totally different from how they lined up in the first half when they started out the game spreading the Houston defense out. You almost always saw 6 or 7 in the box. The 7th man was either the safety or the slot corner leaving the slot receiver to fill in on the run game right when the ball was snapped (This makes me worried for how much they knew it was going to be a run play. They guessed right on a lot of them)

Anae did something that totally blew my mind to cancel out that safety and slot corner that was always filling in as the 7th man in the box in the 2nd half...He put the slot receiver in motion to make it look like it was an option play. If you watched the 2nd half and you kept thinking "Id be pissed if I was the the receiver running these motion plays for free." But in my crazy theory i believe it was Anae adjusting to the Houston defense and to all the other teams left on the schedule that if they do decide to play that way...be prepared, cause the motion man might just get a ball for an explosive play that goes for a TD, or you can just take the motion man and Taysom will burn you for a long play himself.

Also the Houston D had no fear of the deep ball. They had their safeties playing 10 yards off the LOS. When they line up like that, it means one thing...STOP THE RUN. They still got gashed for 300+ on the ground.

If Im the BYU coaching staff, im hoping and praying they stack that box with 8. Its only a matter of time before Taysom and the receivers start winning those 1 on 1 match ups for the dunk!
