The coaches really need to focus on that. However, I was listening to Greg Wrubell after the game and he said that the most heavily penalized team in BYU history was the 1980 team which averaged 11.8 penalties a game. That team ended up going 12-1. So his conclusion was that there is no correlation between penalties and wins and losses. That stat gives me hope. But I do agree that a few critical, stupid penalties could cost us a close game. It needs to be a point of emphasis for this team.
