You must have seen the same scene that I did, after the game. It was pretty bad, and I am not one of the blue haired old people, that another fan referred to earlier. In fact, I am one of the last people that you would ever see comment about language, trash talking, or backing down from someone. There just comes a point, where someone is making a horse rear end(keeping it clean, so I don't get warned again by the mods) out of themselves, and not being a fan. The majority of the people that were yelling, would never have backed up a single word of what they were saying, had a fan or player actually gotten into their face. They are the same fans that are keyboard trolls, and tough behind their computers, or in situations that they know the other person could not fight back.
As for what their fans were saying to our players, I have no doubt that they were saying some pretty egregious and inappropriate stuff. My season tickets are right next to the opposing fans section, and I hear it every single game. Most fans are pretty cool and will say the usual trash talk, but every once in a while you have some really special ones that take it well beyond the game. I have heard several different religious taunts, that were directed at other fans; and the UVA fans were no different. That being said, they were FAR from being the worst trash talking fans that I have heard in the 10 years that I have had season tickets there. By far, the worst fans/ student section that I have ever heard and witnessed, was Weber State fans. Which was hilarious, considering that myself, my wife, and my 8 in-laws family members that I was with, are all Weber State Alumni, that are season ticket holders. I heard far more Anti-Mormon comments out of the Weber fans, than I heard from UVA, or Ute fans, for that matter. Florida St. fans, were a close 2nd to Weber St, but that was probably because there were a ton of them that had literally pulled their homes with them to the game. The UVA fans, were cool, except for a few that were extremely loud, and probably from Utah and were trying to get attention from the other fans that they were with. Their message board, is an entirely different matter; and they can not accept the fact that the ACC refs did not hand the game to them. They literally are complaining that BYU is dirty, and that they were screwed out of the game by the ACC refs, that should have treated them differently because they are an ACC team.
