I think him being embarrassed over his poor coaching job led to an extreme
over reaction on his part, where he committed multiple offenses that an honorable conference would have reprimanded him for.


I love it, though, that for all his "righteous indignation," he basically wanted to have used the replay to cheat his way to a win. An honorable coach would have said, "Sure, replay should have awarded us the fumble, but we got away with a facemask on the play. It could and probably should have been worse for us on that play." That's what an honorable coach would have said and left it at that. Instead, he was a whiny little child who helped lead a weeks long SDSU crusade aided by the equally childish league commissioner we were all happy to be leaving.
