Those outfits, gave in to every single stereotype that LDS women are thought of by the ignorant around the country. I was at the game, knew who they were; and could not believe what they were wearing for a nationally televised WHITEOUT game. It had nothing to do with being virtuous, and more to do with looking like 18-22 year old girls wearing a moomoo.(sp? probably wrong, but you all get the point) It made it look as if we were repressing the girls at BYU to look more like the FLDS, than what the gorgeous women at BYU normally would wear. Even worse, was the fact that when I got home, ESPN; kept showing closeups of them and not the actual cheerleaders. Sure, we know that they are cougarettes and not cheerleaders, but nobody else in the national audience did. I can not believe how many people on the UVA messageboards, were literally making fun of BYU over this. There were more BYU fans at the game, commenting on these outfits, than UVA fans; because it was expected by the UVA fans.
