utah was up 37-7 against weber when 1st and 2nd string was pulled
They also out gained air force 440-191(!). Game was not nearly as close as the score indicated. Out gained the lobos 390-280 but lost the to Battle 2-0. That can keep any game close.. out gained michigan 340-200. Led by 15 in the 4th and played not to lose. Overall outplayed michigan by a mile and controlled the game

Andy Ludwig insisted on that team being a traditional power running team (style of football that results in closer games and smaller MOV), when that team was built to be an up tempo, pass heavy offense. They were incredible in the 2 minute offense (see Oregon State, tcu, and Alabama games). Every time they went to it, it worked. And that isn't a coincidence. When Ludwig gave Brian Johnson play calling authority before the sdsu game, the offense became what it should have been all year, and took off.

There are 8 or 9 players from that 2008 defense in the NFL. Team really was loaded with talent, and very good. Could have been better without Ludwig limiting the offenses potential by trying to make them something they weren't
