What Access to the playoffs means to the sport of CF
First I will be brutally honest non P5 have not had access to the BCS NC ever. However undefeated teams such as the Yew and BSU have put pressure on the P5 to add legitimacy to the system. They seem to be reserving their place at the table by setting 4 places for 5 overstuffed egos.

Since the BCS era and even before that the canyon that separated the haves from the have nots has grown. Could SMU's death penalty have come at a more critical time? Wyoming used to be a respectable team. BYU 1984. Alabama, LSU, Florida were not unbeatable juggernauts. My point is that things have happened because there is no possible access for Elite players to win at 75% of the schools. At this point the only thing Keeping good players (and coaches) at the have nots is exposure. How am I going to get to the next level, I need playing time and I need to be seen.

The antithesis of this is the NCAA basketball tournament. With 65 teams going to the dance it is conceivable that any team could win the national championship or at minimum play in the tournament and have 15 minutes on stage. The difference between the haves and the have nots in basketball have narrowed. Student athletes can go to the school of their choice. Programs can be built anywhere (Gonzaga).

My point College football is so fat from its money making years it is going to step into several pits simply because it can't see its own feet. IMO 8 or 16 is the # for a playoff but anonymity is not the right answer. The answer is found in the American dream it is possibility. I realize that it is more complicated than this but this is a start.
