When a receiver is extremely wide open downfield, the ball should be thrown
straight to him to secure the completion first rather than leading him. It is more important to secure a big completion rather than hit a guy in stride and risking a potential overthrow. So yeah Blackmon had to slow down a bit, but Hill did the right thing.

The ND game a couple of years ago is a perfect example. Had Nelson thrown the ball straight to Hoffman, even if he had to stop and wait for it, he probably still gets the TD. Instead, the QB lead him and picked the wrong direction.......and ND gets to the national championship game a few weeks later.
