And he gave up a chance to keep BYU from an historic season, the kind that
builds program strength and makes competing with us for recruiting/media even more difficult for them. The strategy of "if we ignore BYU and assert our conference superiority, they will wither and die" appears to be backfiring. He would have been better served to keep playing us (and ideally for him, beating us) so that when the inevitable PAC12 losses would mount, they could still have a reference of superiority. Instead, he gave up that chance.
