Similar to BYU, Many of Utah's best players come as transfers or other ways
Utah's best defender, Gionni Paul, is a Miami transfer. Utah got a big time receiver that wasn't on any of the lists - Tim Patrick - after he surprised everyone and completed more than 20 credit hours this summer as a JC. You will be hearing in future years about a highly talented 26 year old kid named Gonzalez that walked onto the team after a AAA baseball career. Kendall Thompson transferred from Oklahoma. We have the best special teams in the nation comprised of automatic Andy (walk-on from ski team), incredibly effective punter Hackett (Australian "football" player) & Mr. touchdown returner Clay (1 year player that started his winding journey at Cal).

Being in the PAC12 helps to get these players. Andy is an exception - he was turned away by BYU (IQ fail). Thompson was attracted to Utah's facilities and the PAC competition.

I am disappointed at the lack of recruiting wins over other P5 schools. I also think the Utes are more athletic than ever before and the athleticism is increasing, not decreasing from year to year.
