Agreed on Pullman...

As for the U, I guess that if that was my only option, I might consider giving up the sport entirely.

I went to BYU, and I always thought the BYU-Utah rivalry was a little ridiculous. I didn't grow up as a member of the predominant faith here in Utah. So, even when I was at BYU (I joined said predominant faith after high school, went on a mission, and enrolled), I always thought, "You essentially have two groups of Mormons who are wearing different colors - how quaint!"

And maybe it was quaint back then (early 90's). Or maybe I was just naive to it all. All I know is that it is not quaint now. I live on the southern side of Salt Lake County. Most of the people I know up here are ardent Ute fans. The bizarre hatred they generally seem to have for BYU is alarming. Honestly, it's made me the trite "fan of any team playing the Utes."

I grew up a Colorado fan, back when Bill McCartney decided he was going to force Nebraska to be CU's rivals. I don't know if you remember, but Colorado had a QB in the late-80s named Sal Aunese. He ended up impregnating Bill McCartney's daughter, and getting cancer. The year CU won the national championship, Aunese was essentially on his last legs - CU dedicated the season to him. The next season, after he died, some Nebraska fans had put banners on the Colorado-Nebraska border that said, "Sal's dead! Go Big Red!"

That turned into an ugly rivalry - almost unenjoyably so. I think it pales in comparison to what BYU-Utah has become.

Anyway, I went off topic. My bad. The point is, the University of Utah sucks.
