Fun day at the office for me
According to the office Ute fans last week, BYU was overrated because of the schedule they had played. Texas is no good and had many suspended players. Virginia was terrible last year and can't be too much better this year - just wait until they play Florida St. Both of these victories have shown that BYU should never have been ranked because both teams aren't good. After the loss to Utah St, which the most embarrassing loss in recent memory, I don't blame them for their sentiments. BYU showed truly where they are as a team on this past Friday.

So, today...after the large chest bumping and fondling convention in the office, I sat silently waiting to bring a bit of logic to their big win on Saturday. I definitely was not stating an opinion about UCLA as a team. I only wanted to point out a couple of things. After bringing up UCLA's ranking over and over, I asked them who UCLA had played to get them ranked that high. It wasn't surprising to find out that none of them knew who UCLA had played (aside from Arizona St). So, I told them that UCLA had played....wait for this one....Texas and Virginia, who again, as of last week, were two of BYU's overrated wins that showed how poor their schedule was and how they (BYU) shouldn't be ranked. All of sudden, very close wins (and almost a loss in both games) against Texas and Virginia became the calling cards for UCLA being ranked #8. Excuses, excuses and more excuses occurred after logic was brought into the conversation.

Bipolarism of their fanbase is comical. If Oregon St wins on Saturday, which could easily happen, the wheels would come right back off that bus. How soon they forget that a week ago many were calling for Whitt's head because they lost a 21 point lead, at home, to Washington St. Oh, and by the way, Washington St's vaunted defense that held Utah's offense in check the whole 2nd half of the game, gave up, count them with me, 60 points and almost 600 yards of total offense.

After the big win on Saturday, did the yellow brick road get wider? Or was UCLA a bit uh-hum overrated and the win was just a good win against a pretty good team, on the road?

On a side note, when was the last time a top 10 team gave up 10 sacks in one game (may have occurred recently - I honestly don't know)? Any team that gives up that many sacks doesn't sound like a top 10 team to me. I'll let Ute fans decide. I'm going for Oregon St on Saturday only because I want the bus to topple over - again.
