If you buy the idea that any particular coach at BYU is capable of dramatically
improving recruiting, then yes, you are right.

I do not buy that idea, so I don't agree with you. And that's ok.

To me BYU has a glass ceiling in regards to recruiting that will only be broken if we get into a P5 conference. In our current situation we will always get a good majority of LDS kids who aren't good enough to go to the USC's of the world, and a smattering of lightly recruited non-LDS athletes on the margins. On the other hand, there is a floor created by the fact that those same LDS kids will want BYU regardless of how bad we are because of the other factors involved with going to BYU.

In short, I believe Bronco is getting the same type of recruits that any other coach would get at BYU, for better or worse. Unfortunately because recruiting services haven't really become popular until recently there's not a lot of data available from before Bronco's tenure to support a thesis one way or the other.
